Description
Sigur Ros – Meo Suo I Eyrum Vio Spilum Endalaust – Double Vinyl Record
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust is an album by Sigur Rós, an Icelandic post-rock band known for their ethereal soundscapes and unique use of language and instruments. The album, whose title translates to \”With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly,\” was released in 2008 and marked a noticeable shift in the band\’s musical direction towards a more accessible, lighter sound compared to their earlier works.
This album is distinctively upbeat and incorporates a variety of instruments and sounds not previously central to Sigur Rós’ music, including more prominent use of acoustic guitar and piano. It also features the first track ever sung in English by the band, \”All Alright,\” although the rest of the album predominantly uses their signature \”Hopelandic\” — a form of nonsensical vocalizations that resembles the Icelandic language.
The opening track, \”Gobbledigook,\” sets an energetic tone with its percussive, jubilant rhythm, which is accompanied by a music video inspired by naturism, adding to the themes of freedom and innocence that permeate the album. Other tracks, like \”Festival\” and \”Ara Bátur,\” showcase the band\’s range from the exuberant to the beautifully solemn, with \”Ara Bátur\” being recorded live with a full choir and orchestra in one take at Abbey Road Studios.
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust was well-received for its fresh approach and its ability to maintain the band\’s core identity while exploring new musical territories. The album\’s artwork and packaging continued the band\’s tradition of innovative design, featuring a controversial cover image of four naked individuals running across a road, which perfectly captures the album’s themes of freedom and unbridled joy.
English translation of the album title is: \”With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly\”.
All the songs on this album were recorded between january and april 2008.
