The Aquanettas was an all-girl rock band from New York. Their music was influenced by classic rock such as Led Zeppelin and punk bands such as X, mixed with surf rock overtones. They formed in the mid-1980s in New York City, New York with lead vocalist Deborah Schwartz who had previously sung and wrote music for punk band Flavor Crystals. Jill Richmond from Los Angeles, California joined Schwartz to form the nucleus of the band, with bassist Claudine Troise and drummer Stephanie Seymour.
The band took their name from a 1950s actress, Aquanetta Rose; Rose came to a Phoenix show by the group in 1990.
The Aquanettas toured nationally and managed to secure a record deal with Canadian record label Nettwerk Productions who also distributed their recordings through IRS Records in the United States. They recorded one album, two EPs and three singles before breaking up in 1995.
