The title suggests an opening, and the record repeatedly looks at what becomes visible during change.
“After the Setting Sun” begins with reflective momentum, while “Time with My Sins” and “Arrow” balance confession with the lift of ensemble singing. The arrangements are full but not crowded: piano, guitars, percussion, and harmonies move in and out of focus, allowing the band’s collective identity to matter as much as any single lead voice.
“Beg, Steal, Borrow” and “Cop Car” add sharper narrative edges, then “Blue Embers” closes the first side with an image of feeling that continues after the obvious flame is gone. The group’s folk-rock foundation remains present, but synth color and more sculpted production give the album a contemporary frame.
The second side moves through “Fire Escape,” the instrumental breath of “Pool Break,” and the bright pulse of “Jubilee.” “West Coast” and “Finally Free” widen the landscape before the title track closes the album, gathering its themes of perspective, release, and choosing where to direct attention.
This limited Blue Ember pressing uses a color-in-color vinyl design and contains the complete twelve-song album. The variant is identified separately from standard copies because the colored vinyl is a material feature of this exact edition.
