Crop Dogs – Wave Motion Gun – Compact Disc
In the rural, backwoods ski village of West Falls, New York there lived two brothers who loved life to its fullest potential. There was a boy from Colden, which is right down the street as the crow flies from West Falls and also a boy from Marilla, which is also another one horse town but a little further out into no mans land. They all shared a common bond, their friendship. These four were just like brothers that had been separated at birth. They had a great gift for creativity and used this to work together and create music.
They would play all day long and their songs would flow over the hills and fill the woods with an awe inspiring aura. One day a great fisherman heard these tunes as he gently floated down the creek in search of the worlds largest bass. The fishermen, who also happened to run Round Flat Records, was so taken back by their music, he screamed aloud, “Damned if I don’t put out a record by these guys and move them into the big city!”. Using his excellent ear for music, he quickly tracked them down, boxed them up and shipped them off to the big city. They cut a record and played many shows.
The people from the big city took a liking to those boys mighty quick. The rancid city had never heard such music before. Because of there country antics and funny looks, they quick grew accustomed to being called “Crop Dogs”. The big city newspaper went so far as to say on one occasion, “These here Crop Dogs, as uncouth and unorthodox as they are, have something quite attractive about themselves. There melodic yet harsh, intensely eerie music is very catchy and reminds me of what life must be like out there…”. Of course, after the success of there first recording, the great fishermen took the Crop Dogs back to there native lands so they could again frolic in the ten foot deep packed powder of the sledding hill.
It was over many cold days and moonless winter nights that the Crop Dogs took to something different, a sound that no man has ever heard before. Many winter nights were spent in the process of the Wave Motion Gun. They are now on there return to the big city, but what will they think of this?
Rapid Fire Magazine #9 – “Fast Crunchy hardcore similar to Agent Orange and Dag Nasty vocals. Strong and powerful is the best way to describe this slab. Interesting changes and a real punk rock feel to it.”
Maximum Rock’n’Roll #116 – “From NY comes this fun, 5 song EP that musicially combines a lot of East Coast styles with melodic poppiness. The band comes across with a tight sound, and it feels like their having a lot of fun doing what their doing. The insert even includes silly military file cards on the band members.”
