Foo Fighters – Your Favorite Toy – Wide Compact Disc
Your Favorite Toy is Foo Fighters’ twelfth studio album, a ten-song burst that pushes the band toward a loud, compact, and deliberately immediate version of its rock sound. Recorded at Dave Grohl’s home studio and co-produced by the band with Oliver Roman, the record follows 2023’s But Here We Are while changing the emotional and rhythmic temperature. Rather than stretching into a long memorial statement, it moves quickly, with most of the program landing in under forty minutes.
“Caught in the Echo” begins with a hard entrance and sets the album’s compressed energy. “Of All People” turns an encounter with someone from the past into a mix of disbelief, survival, and resentment. “Window” keeps the pressure high before the title track changes the texture with distorted vocal treatment and a chant-like hook. Grohl described “Your Favorite Toy” as the song that unlocked the direction of the album after an extended period of experimentation.
“If You Only Knew” balances force with melodic movement, allowing regret and uncertainty to emerge inside the attack. “Spit Shine” returns to a rougher, quicker impulse, while “Unconditional” introduces an unexpected new-wave edge without abandoning the band’s guitar weight. The sequencing emphasizes contrast within a narrow runtime: a different drum feel, vocal surface, or keyboard color can redirect a song before the record immediately moves to its next idea.
“Child Actor” and “Amen, Caveman” occupy the late album with sarcasm, distortion, and the kind of blunt chorus designed for a live room. “Asking for a Friend,” first shared before the full album announcement, closes on a more reflective note. It gives the record space to look outward after so much forward motion. That final change in posture prevents the program from feeling like volume for its own sake and leaves an emotional afterimage beneath the physical rush.
The album is the first Foo Fighters studio set to feature Ilan Rubin on drums. His playing joins Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, and Rami Jaffee in a lineup capable of making fast, dense arrangements remain legible. The record does not abandon the group’s long-established balance of melody and impact, but it treats that balance as something to test. Distorted vocals, clipped structures, and aggressive production give familiar strengths a different frame.
This RCA compact-disc edition is packaged in a standard jewel case with a booklet and a foldout poster. Target labels the product “Wide CD,” but its own specification identifies the familiar jewel-case format rather than a K-pop-style oversize box. Released in April 2026, it contains the complete ten-track album. UPC 199584421322 should be used to distinguish this CD from the standard vinyl and Target-exclusive colored-vinyl versions with similar artwork.
Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
