Saccharine Trust – Past Lives is a compilation album by the American punk rock band Saccharine Trust. It was released in 1989 and features a collection of previously released and unreleased tracks from the band’s early years.
Saccharine Trust was formed in the early 1980s and was known for their experimental and avant-garde approach to punk rock. They incorporated elements of jazz, spoken word, and noise into their music, creating a unique and unconventional sound.
Saccharine Trust is a band from California that was started in 1980 by singer Jack Brewer and guitarist Joe Baiza. The band would frequently perform with SST labelmates Minutemen and Black Flag. Drummer Rob Holzman appeared on their 1981 debut Paganicons but left the band to play in Slovenly, replaced by drummer Tony Cicero.
Past Lives provides a retrospective look at Saccharine Trust’s early material, including songs from their albums ‘Paganicons’ (1981) and ‘Surviving You, Always’ (1984), as well as various EPs and singles. The album showcases the band’s diverse range of influences and their willingness to push the boundaries of punk rock.
