Description
The Moody Blues – Seventh Sojourn – Vinyl Record
Seventh Sojourn brought the Moody Blues’ classic run of conceptually unified albums to a powerful pause. Released in 1972, it combines the group’s familiar harmonies and philosophical writing with a denser, more grounded production. Mike Pinder’s Chamberlin supplies orchestral color while the rhythm section gives the record unusual weight.
“Lost in a Lost World” begins with a tense, searching atmosphere before Justin Hayward’s “New Horizons” opens into one of his most graceful melodies. Ray Thomas contributes the gentle “For My Lady,” its flute and acoustic textures offering intimacy between the album’s larger statements.
John Lodge’s “Isn’t Life Strange” closes the first side with a slow dramatic rise, moving from quiet reflection to massed harmonies and Mellotron-like grandeur. The arrangement never rushes its emotional release, making the track one of the band’s defining long-form singles.
The second side turns outward. “You and Me” carries a firm rock pulse, “The Land of Make-Believe” uses warmth and fantasy to question reality, and Pinder’s “When You’re a Free Man” brings a darker political undercurrent. Lodge’s “I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)” ends the album with blunt energy and a memorable group chorus.
This vinyl edition presents the original eight-track album without the alternate versions and bonus material found on expanded digital editions. The focused sequence preserves the balance of individual songwriting voices that makes Seventh Sojourn feel both varied and unmistakably unified.
Brand new, never played and still sealed in the factory plastic
